Backpacker injured in a road accident in the Czech Republic: can she claim compensation in the UK?

My daughter was backpacking in the Czech Republic recently when she was given a lift by a young Czech student. The car was involved in an accident which we believe may have been caused by the young man concerned. Is it possible she can claim for her injuries and if so can the claim be brought in the UK or will it need to be undertaken in the Czech Republic as she was not driving?

You daughter will be entitled to pursue a claim against the driver of the vehicle irrespective of whether he was insured.

This claim should be brought in the UK where damages will be substantially higher than in the Czech Republic and the claim settled quicker.
