UK couple run into by uninsured driver in Slovakia: can we claim? by Conrad Murray — last modified 2007-10-10 12:56
We were driving through Slovakia when another vehicle pulled alongside to overtake but then observed that there was another car coming in the opposite direction and slammed into the side of us, Both my husband and I suffered injuries but it turns out the other car was uninsured. We have now flown home but the car is still in Slovakia and the garage refuse to commence repairs without a guarantee of payment. For stupid reasons of false economy we were only third party insured. Is there anything you can do for us?
Italian working in London had a road accident resulting in injury on holiday in Italy: what is the best location to bring a compensation claim? by Conrad Murray — last modified 2007-10-10 13:03
I am an Italian working for an American bank in London. I pay tax in the UK. Recently on holiday back in Italy I was involved in an accident where a car ran into me from behind. Both my wife and I suffered (and continue to suffer) whiplash injuries. Can you advise whether as UK taxpayers we would be able to claim compensation for our injuries in the UK even though we are Italian nationals as I understand the compensation payouts are higher here.
Northern Ireland driver has accident in the Irish Republic: can he be compelled to use the Irish Republic's Personal Injuries Assessment Board by Conrad Murray — last modified 2007-10-10 13:22
I am from Northern Ireland and was involved in a head on crash with another car on a narrow lane during a recent trip across the border in the Irish Republic. The guards who attended the scene measured up and said the other man had been speeding whereas my skidmarks showed I had not. The man's insurers in the Irish Republic have conceded liability but are insisting the claim is processed through the Personal Injuries Assessment Board in the Irish Republic and won't speak to my solicitor. Is it true I can now bring the claim with you in Northern Ireland or elsewhere in the UK?

My (English) daughter was driving her car in Germany yesterday and had a collision which the police say was the other person's fault. She feels a little whoozie but seems otherwise uninjured but the car is badly damaged. Can you deal with the repair either in Germany or sort out getting the vehicle home? Is a replacement car available? If so does she leave it there and travel back by public transport or can she bring the car back here?
